THE RETURN TO NAZARETH
After Herod died, an Angle of the Lord appeared in a ream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child ‘s life are dead.”
So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee and he went and lived in a town call Nazareth, so was fulfilled what was said through the Prophets. “He will be call a Nazarene.”
John the Baptist prepares the way
(Mt 3,1 – 12)
In those day, John the baptist came, preaching in the desert of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the desert,
Prepare the way for the Lord,
Make straight paths for him!”
John’s clothes were made of cam’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan river.
But when he saw many of the Phrisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them. “You brood of vipers ! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath ? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not think you can say to yoursalves, “We have Abraham as our father.” I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut dowm and throw into the fire.
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Repent (v) : ăn năn, sám hối, ân hận ; kinkdom : Vương quốc
Nazarena (n) : người Na-da-rét

Path (n) : lối đi, đường mòn, đường đi nhỏ ; leather (n) : da thuộc
Leather belt : dây lung bằng da, dây da
Waist : eo, vòng eo ; locust (n) : Châu chấu, Wild (a) : hoang dã, có nguồn gốc tự nhiên ; Wild honye : mật ong rừng (thiên nhiên)
Whole (a) : tất cả, toàn vẹn, toàn bộ ; Region (n) : Lãnh vực, miền đất
Confess : Xưng tội, thú tội ; brood (v) : lo lắng, suy nghĩ phiền muộn
Viper (n) : loài rắn độc, người ác hiểm, tráo trở
Flee (v) : chạy trốn, bỏ chạy, rời bỏ
Wrath (n): cơn thịnh nộ, sự phẩn nộ
Repentance (n) : Sự ân hận, hối hận, sám hối
Keeping (n) : Sự giữ gìn, bảo quản, trách nhiệm

Ax, axe : cái rìu ; root : rễ, gốc rễ, nguồn gốc, căn bản
Powerful (a) : đầy quyền lực, quyền thế, hùng mạnh ; fit (a) : Xứng đáng
Winnow (v) -> Winnowing : Rê, sàng, lựa ra, sàng lọc
Fork : Cai nia ; nĩa để ăn ; Thresh (v) : đập lúa,
Threshing floor : đập lúa nơi sân: sân đập lúa
Wheat : lúa mì: hạt lúa mì ; barn (n) : Kho lúa ; burn (n) : đốt, bỏ vào lửa
Chaff (n): Vật vô giá trị, trấu, rơm rạ
Quench (v) : làm kết thúc, dập lửa, tắt lửa ->
unquenchable (a) : không tắt ; unquenchable fire : lửa không hề tắt
II. GRAMMAR:
1.Who were trying to take the child’s life are dead: thuộc thì quá khứ tiếp diễn: Subject + was/ were + Verb – ing (+O)

2. Câu : He will be call a Nazarene: (thuộc Thì tương lai đơn, thể thụ động)
* Công thức thể khẳng định:
Chủ ngữ + WILL + Động từ nguyên mẫu + Bổ ngữ.
- Viết tắt "Chủ ngữ + WILL":
+ I WILL = I'LL ; + WE WILL = WE'LL ; + YOU WILL = YOU'LL ; + THEY WILL = THEY'LL ; + HE WILL = HE'LL ; + SHE WILL = SHE'LL ; + IT WILL = IT'LL
